YouTube introduced Stories features back in 2017, allows creators to share short videos that disappear after seven (7) days is going to shutdown soon.
YouTube has announced that "YouTube Stories" will be discontinued (shutting down this feature) on June 26, 2023.
The decision to shut down YouTube Stories is to prioritize other areas like Shorts, Community posts, and live videos, says YouTube.
Shorts: They become very popular these days. They are vertical videos with a maximum duration of 60 seconds, similar to TikTok and Instagram Reels, and are intended to attract mobile users.
Community posts: It enable creators to engage with their audience using text, images, polls, and GIFs.
Live videos: These are real-time broadcasts that can be monetized through Super Chat and Super Stickers.
YouTube believes that these features (Shorts, Community posts, and Live videos) provide more flexibility and creativity for creators and more ways for viewers to discover and enjoy content.
YouTube says, they will support creators in transitioning their Stories content to other formats before the shutdown date.
