In the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023, University of Oxford emerged as the world's best institute among 1,799 universities from 104 countries.
Second place was retained by Harvard University, followed by the University of Cambridge, Stanford University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Institutes were ranked based on teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%), and industry outcome (2.5%).
Among Indian institutes, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has retained the top position in THE rankings. IISc is placed in the 251-300 rank band.
After IISc, the second place was shared by JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research and Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences.
