iPhone 16 Pro to Feature Tetraprism Lens for 5x Optical Zoom, Same as iPhone 15 Pro Max

Apple next-generation flagship smartphone, iPhone 16 Pro, is expected to feature the same advanced camera system as the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which was launched in 2023.

iPhone 15 Pro Max features a tetraprism telephoto lens that offers up to 5x optical zoom. A report by analyst Ming-Chi Kuosaysthat the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro may have this.

The tetraprism lens is a periscope zoom lens that reflects light four (4) times inside a glass structure, creating a longer focal length and enabling higher optical zoom.

This allows users to capture distant objects with more clarity and detail, without losing image quality.

The iPhone 15 Pro Max was the only model in the 2023 lineup to have this lens, while the iPhone 15 Pro had a standard zoom lens with 3x optical zoom.

Kuo claims that both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max will use the tetraprism lens in 2024, likely maintaining the same specs as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, this is still a speculation and Apple has not confirmed any details about the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera features.

The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to debut in September 2024, along with the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Mini.
