Nothing makes a bold move in the ongoing Android vs. iMessage debate by introducing a feature in its Nothing Chats app.
Nothing Chats
The app enables Android users to send messages to iOS users with Apple’s distinctive blue bubbles; initially available in the US, Canada, UK, and EU for Nothing Phone (2) users.
The app brings iMessage functionality to Android users, including the iconic green bubble messaging, comprehensive support for group chats, live typing indicators, media sharing, and voice notes.
The Nothing Chats app, developed in collaboration with Sunbird, is currently in its Beta phase, promising additional features and improvements in the future.
An early hands-on reveals that certain functionalities, like message editing, may be absent or not fully functional.
Starting from November 17, Nothing Chats will be available exclusively on the Google Play Store for Nothing Phone (2) users.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei acknowledges that Nothing Chats won’t revolutionize messaging but sees it as a conversation starter about perceived anti-competitive practices.
