Details Of The Notification

Brief Information about National Defence Academy Application form and Notification                                

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will publish notification to be conduct of National Defence Academy (NDA) & Naval Academy (NA) Exam every year. 

Vacancy details are given below 

1. ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION NDA AND NA

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination.

Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY

(a) Nationality

A candidate must be unmarried male and must be Indian 

Note: See complete eligibility of Nationality in full notification given below

(b) Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status 

Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 02nd January, 2000 and not later than 1st January, 2003 are eligible.

(c) Educational Qualifications

(i) For Army Wing of National Defence Academy 

 10+2 or Intermediate or equivalent 

(ii) For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and for the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy 

10+2 or Intermediate or equivalent 

NOTE 1: Candidates appearing in the 11th class exam are not eligible for NDA And NA examination.

NOTE 2:  Candidates can apply for NDA and NA examination even they are pursuing 12th by submission of proof of passing the 12th class or equivalent examination by the prescribed date (i.e. 24th June, 2019)  

NOTE 3: Candidates are not eligible if they are debarred by  Ministry of Defence

NOTE 4: Those candidates who failed in CPSS/PABT Tests earlier are not eligible for Air Force.

(d) Physical Standards

Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination (II), 2018 as per guidelines given in the notification 

Note: Verification of eligibility conditions are taken up only after qualifying for interview or Personality Test.

 2. HOW TO APPLY FOR NDA AND NA EXAMINATION

Candidates are required to apply online by using the official website of  UPSC 

3. SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR NDA AND NA EXAMINATION

UPSC conducts  NDA (National Defence Academy)  Exam in Two Stages.

Stage I : Written Exam 

Stage II : Interview

STAGE I:  Written Examination

The exam will consists of two papers-  Mathematic and General Ability

Each Paper is given the time limit 2 ½ Hours

Weightage of Marks

Mathematics :300 marks

General Ability: 600 marks

Mode of Exam: Objective Type Questions

STAGE II: Interview

Qualified candidates in the written examination will be called for Interview conducted by SSB (Services selection board)

For Army, Navy Wings & 10 +2 Entry Scheme candidates need to undergo Intelligence Test & Personality Test, but for Air Force Wing the candidates must attend a Pilot Aptitude Test

 Intelligence and Personality Test

The SSB procedure consists of two stage Selection process-stage I and stage II.

Only candidates who clear the stage I are permitted to appear for stage II.

Stage I 

Stage I comprises of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests are Picture Perception Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on combination of performance in QIR Test and PP and DT

Stage II

Stage II Comprises of Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over 4 days.

4. SCHEME OF EXAMINATION FOR NDA AND NA EXAMINATION

The subjects of the written examination, the time allowed and the maximum marks allotted to each subject will be as follows

Total Marks for written test: 900 marks

For SSB Test/Interview: 900 marks
