Stage I
Qualifying Papers For Mains Examination of UPSC
The Aim of Paper A and Paper B is to test the Candidate’s ability to read and understand serious discursive prose, and to express his Ideas clearly and correctly.
Note : Paper A and Paper B are only Qualifying papers with total of 600 Marks
Stage II
The Stage II of UPSC civil service exam 2018 consist of 7 Papers i.e.,
Paper I – Essay
Paper II – General Studies I
(Indian Culture and Heritage, History and Geography of the World and Society Included)
Paper III – General Studies II
(Indian Culture and Heritage, History and Geography of the World and Society Included)
Paper IV – General Studies III
(Governance, Polity, Constitution, Social Justice and International relations)
Paper V – General Studies IV
(Technology, Economic Development, Bio-Diversity, Environment, Disaster Management And Security )
Paper VI -Optional Subject I
Paper VII – Optional Subject II
Candidates have to choose Paper VI optional subject and Paper VII Optional Subject i.e., Literature Subject for UPSC Mains.

Personality Test
The Interview consist of 275 marks (with no minimum qualifying marks). Marks then obtained by the candidates in the Main Examination (written part as well as interview) would determine their final ranking. (Ranking is based on score out of 2025 Marks). Candidates will be allotted to the various services of Civil’s keeping in view their ranks in the Examination and the preferences expressed by them for the various services and posts.
