Samsung has officially confirmed that its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 will feature advanced AI capabilities as part of its strategy to enhance user experiences. These foldable devices are expected to be launched in early July 2024, continuing the trend set by their predecessors.
Won-Joon Choi, Samsung’s EVP and Head of Mobile R&D Office, highlighted in a recent blog post that the new devices will integrate Samsung’s Galaxy AI to offer unprecedented functionality. The combination of the versatile foldable form factor with Galaxy AI is anticipated to unlock new possibilities for users. This includes optimizing the devices for enhanced performance, privacy, and user convenience.
One of the standout features will be the expansion of Samsung’s Live Translate AI to third-party messaging apps, including voice call support. This feature ensures on-device language translation, maintaining user privacy by processing translations without sharing data externally. The Live Translate feature currently supports 13 languages and 17 dialects, with potential for future expansion depending on user reception.
The Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are also expected to introduce various other AI-driven enhancements. These include improved camera functionalities such as AI-powered photo editing and AI Zoom, which enhances image quality when digitally zooming. Additionally, features like Chat Assist, which helps compose messages with the appropriate tone, and Note Assist, which suggests templates and organizes notes, will be part of the AI suite.
The devices will likely come with hardware upgrades as well, including an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, larger batteries, and enhanced camera systems. Rumors also suggest that the Z Fold6 might feature an integrated S Pen slot, addressing a long-standing user demand.
Samsung’s strategy with these new foldables underscores its commitment to leveraging AI to create more practical and user-friendly mobile experiences, aiming to stay ahead of competitors in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.
