India’s first Internet Exchange celebrates its 18th Foundation Day; Free 10GB to every .IN user

India’s first Internet Exchange NIXI: On June 19, 2021, the National Internet Exchange of India, NIXI celebrated its 18th Foundation Day. NIXI has been working to help India’s Internet ecosystem since 1996. NIXI, India’s first Internet Exchange, makes peering between ISPs to local traffic easier than to the US / abroad, leading to better service quality and cheaper ISP bandwidth costs.

In addition, it is the NIXI registration for India’s ccTLD (.IN) Internet Protocol addresses (IPv4 and IPv6) and Autonomous System numbers are also allocated to the Indian Affiliates by NIXI.

The efforts of MeitY and the government to push the digital agenda have resulted in India advancing in the worldwide digital competitiveness rankings. The opportunities for jobs in India are expanding substantially at the same time. More than 10 million people in India are projected to have promising digital job opportunities due to the increasing prevalence of digital productivity.

India is well-positioned to make the trillion-dollar-economy goal a reality by 2025. Peering traffic for NIXI has risen. With its efforts, India has surpassed 2.7 million registrations of the country-specific top-level domain, making it the third-largest country in Asia. Every .IN user will get 10GB of personal e-mail storage space, provided by NIXI. A free personalised email address is provided on the registry.in website, users can approach www.registry.in to get a free personalized e-mail. t is an additional benefit for any other country code top-level domain.

The official languages of India are 22 as of now. CEO NIXI reports that domain names are accessible in 22 Indian languages.
