What Causes Dragonsplague?

Dragonsplague is a disease that shows up when you summon pawns much higher in level than you. It’s contagious and can spread from one pawn to another in your party. Pawns get this disease when they enter the rift and get infected. There’s a chance that killing Drakes might infect one of your Dragon’s Dogma 2 Pawns with Dragonsplague, but we’re not sure about the specifics yet.

How to Recognize the Symptoms

Dragonsplague symptoms are easy to spot. Pawns with the disease have glowing red eyes, show signs of tiredness, and suffer from headaches. They start ignoring commands like “to me” or “go” and act on their own. They become overly animated and even develop an attitude. Interestingly, they also become strangely effective and strong in combat.

What are the Effects of Dragonsplague?

Dragonsplague dramatically changes infected pawns. They become stronger and more effective in combat. But eventually, the disease turns them into a massive dragon that destroys the town you’re currently resting in, kills every villager, and then saves your game. This mechanic can completely ruin your save file if you’re not careful.

Are there any Cures for Dragonsplague?

As of now, there’s no definitive cure for Dragonsplague. The only way to cure a pawn of Dragonsplague is to forcibly remove them from the party or have them pass the disease on to another pawn in the party. If a pawn starts acting aggressively and ignoring orders, you should send them back to the rift immediately.

If your Main Pawn has Dragonsplague, you’ll have to throw them off a cliff or find another way to kill them because you can’t dismiss them. You can resummon your Main Pawn for free at any Riftstone, but once you dismiss Hired Pawns, they’re gone until you re-hire them for an RC cost.
