1) PM CARES Fund Trust allocated Rs. 2000 crore for supply of 50,000 ‘Made-in-India’ ventilators to government-run COVID hospitals in all States and UT’s

  • Manufactured by M/s Bharat Electronics Limited, AgVa Healthcare, AMTZ Basic, AMTZ High End and Allied Medical
  • Additional 14,000 ventilators to be delivered to all States/ UT’s by the end of June 2020

2) Narendra Modi paid tribute to Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his death anniversary, some facts are

  • Syama Prasad Mukherjee is born in a Bengali Hindu Brahmin family in Calcutta on 6 July 1901. He died in the custody of Jammu and Kashmir Police in 1953
  • Mukherjee was a politician and barrister served as the Minister for Industry and Supply in Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s cabinet
  • Mukherjee founded the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor to the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1951. He is also known as the founder of the BJP party
  • Kolkata Port Trust was renamed as Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee Port to his memorial on 12 Jan 2020

6) Government e-Marketplace (GeM) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry made mandatory for sellers to enter details of Country of Origin while registering new products on GeM

7) INS Airavat deployed by the Indian Navy for Operation Samudra Setu entered Tuticorin harbour with 198 Indian nationals from Male, Maldives

  • Indian Navy repatriated about 3305 Indian citizens from the Maldives, Sri Lanka and Iran in the outbreak of pandemic
  • Operation Samudra Setu is to get back Indian national struck on other countries due to the outbreak of pandemic

8) Union Minister HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank launched an initiative YUKTI 2.0 to incubate startups in the higher education institutions

  • Initiative YUKTI 2.0 to help systematically assimilate technologies having commercial potential and information related to incubated startups in our higher education institutions
  • Earlier, YUKTI (Young India combating COVID with Knowledge, Technology and Innovation) web portal was launched on 11 April 2020
