1) 15th Finance Commission (FC) Chairman, N. K. Singh and FC Members held meeting with Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh on the issue of Finance Commission grants to Rural Local Bodies for provisions of drinking water and sanitation services

  • FC Chairman assured the fullest support for this project in the Finance Commission’s last run-up to its final report for the next 5 years i.e. 2021-22 to 2025-26

5) Sports Ministry looking to establish KISCE, Khelo India State Centres of Excellence under Khelo India Scheme

  • 1 KISCE to be identified in every state and union territory
  • In the first stage, Ministry identified state-owned sports facilities in 8 states i.e., in Karnataka, Odisha, Kerala, Telangana, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland which to be upgraded into Khelo India State Centre of Excellence, KISCE
  • Present Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports: Kiren Rijiju

6) Indian doctors reported success of dexamethasone, an inexpensive steroid which saving the lives of COVID-19 patients on ventilators

  • Dexamethasone observed it reduced deaths by one-third in ventilated patients and by one-fifth in oxygen receiving patients

7) Andhra Pradesh government presented annual budget FY 2020-21 with a total outlay of ₹ 2.24 lakh crore, which is 1.40% less than the last year’s outlay of ₹ 2.27 lakh crore

  • Estimated revenue receipts at ₹1.61 lakh crore against last fiscal revised estimate of ₹1.10 lakh crore in 2019-20
  • Revenue expenditure is estimated at ₹ 1.80 lakh crore against last fiscal revised estimate of ₹1.37 lakh crore in 2019-20

8) North Korea blew up an inter-Korean liaison office in Kaesong, which resides on its border, it was inaugurated on Sep 2018

  • Kim Jong-un’s sister Kim Yo-jong asserted herself as the de facto leader of North Korea

9) According to the Ericsson Mobility Report, India remained as highest monthly data usage per smartphone

  • The total mobile data traffic is projected to triple to 21 EB per month in 2025
  • 1 exabyte = 1,000 petabytes
