Cresselia, a Psychic-type Legendary Pokémon from the Sinnoh region, is known for its representation of the crescent moon. It’s said that holding one of its feathers ensures joyful dreams. This guide will help you understand how to effectively participate in Raid Battles against Cresselia, catch it post-battle, and utilize this Lunar Pokémon once caught.
Raid Timing
Cresselia will be available in Pokémon GO raids from February 26th, 2024, to March 1s, 2024. During this period, there will be an increased number of five-star Raids. A Raid Hour featuring Cresselia is scheduled from 10 am to 10 am Local Time. Last Appeared in Raids: August 4, 2023, to August 16, 2023.
Preparing for the Raid
Cresselia, being a Psychic-type Pokémon, is vulnerable to Bug, Ghost, and Dark-type attacks. When assembling your team of six for the Cresselia Raid Battle, prioritize Pokémon with Fast and Charged Attacks of these types to maximize damage.
Pokémon sharing a type with these attacks will receive a same-type attack bonus, boosting these attacks by an additional 20%.
If you have several Pokémon with Bug-, Ghost-, or Dark-type attacks, opt for those with the highest CP and superior overall stats. The speed of your victory influences the number of Premier Balls you receive post-battle, so bring your strongest Pokémon and aim to defeat Cresselia swiftly.
Recommended Pokémon
Here are some suggested Pokémon to consider for your raid lineup:
- Ghost-type Pokémon: Gengar, Chandelure, Banette, Gholdengo, and Origin Forme Giratina.
- Dark-type Pokémon: Tyranitar, Houndoom, Weavile, Absol, and Hydreigon.
- Bug-type Pokémon: Scizor and Volcarona.
Remember, an Elite Fast TM or an Elite Charged TM may be required to teach some of these Pokémon specific attacks.
What to Do with Cresselia After Catching
After a successful raid, you’ll have a limited number of Premier Balls to catch Cresselia. Make each throw count. You can earn extra Premier Balls by battling with friends and defeating Cresselia quickly.
In an encounter with Cresselia, aim for Excellent Throws when the target ring is small. Throwing Curveballs can further improve your chances. However, work within your abilities—if you can’t reliably make Excellent Curveball Throws, aim for Nice or Great Throws instead.
Cresselia won’t make it easy for you by staying still. Avoid wasting your Premier Balls by throwing while it’s moving around. Observe Cresselia’s movement cycle and the pauses in between. During a pause, wait for the target ring to reappear, then throw as it starts to shrink to increase your odds of making a Great or Excellent Throw.
Berries can aid in catching Cresselia. A Razz Berry will make it easier to catch, and a Golden Razz Berry will significantly increase your chances. If you’re struggling to land any throws, a Nanab Berry will calm Cresselia, making its movements less erratic and allowing you to make precise throws more easily. If you need extra Cresselia Candy, using a Silver Pinap Berry will make Cresselia easier to catch and grant you extra Candy when you catch it.
Utilizing Cresselia
Cresselia, a Psychic-type Pokémon, is resistant to Fighting- and Psychic-type attacks. It shines in the GO Battle League, especially in the Ultra League, due to its durability. It can challenge popular Ultra League Pokémon with Moonblast and Grass Knot. Pair Cresselia with a team that can counter Steel-type Pokémon, which Cresselia struggles against.
Cresselia’s Psycho Cut Fast Attack powers up Charged Attacks quickly. Moonblast is a powerful choice for a Charged Attack, and Future Sight and Grass Knot are excellent choices for a second Charged Attack. Your choice will depend on your strategy and team composition.
