Apple has introduced the AFib History feature for Apple Watch users in India. The feature is available on Apple Watch Series 4 and later models with watchOS 9 and requires an iPhone with iOS 16.
AFib (atrial fibrillation) History on Apple Watch
AFib History provides users with valuable insights into their heart condition by showing the estimated percentage of time their heart displayed signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib).
AFib is an irregular heart rhythm that can cause symptoms such as rapid heartbeat, palpitations, fatigue, or shortness of breath. Additionally, the feature allows users to log various life factors that can impact their AFib burden, including exercise minutes, sleep, weight, alcohol consumption, and mindful minutes.
Users will receive weekly alerts on their Apple Watch every Monday, displaying the estimated percentage of time their heart showed signs of AFib during the previous week. They can view their AFib History estimate on their iPhone by accessing the Health app. This information can also be shared with their doctor to aid in the management of their condition.
Apple Watch already includes the ECG app and irregular rhythm notification feature, which assists in identifying potential signs of AFib. However, AFib History takes monitoring a step further by allowing users diagnosed with AFib to track the duration their heart exhibits AFib signs and take control of essential lifestyle factors.
To access to AFib History, users need to update their iPhone and Apple Watch to the latest versions of iOS and watchOS, respectively. Follow the setup process within the Health app, which involves entering personal details, indicating the AFib diagnosis, and some relevant information.
Once set up, users receive weekly alerts on their Apple Watch with their AFib burden percentage. Furthermore, they can review their history and compare it with the recorded lifestyle factors in the Health app on their iPhone.
The AFib History feature is now available to Apple Watch Series 4 and later users in India, starting from today i.e., on 18 July 2023.
