Airtel has taken a step ahead of its competitor, Reliance Jio, by initiating the testing phase of its own Xstream AirFiber service.
This development comes after Reliance Jio announced Jio AirFiber during its 45th Annual General Meeting (AGM) last year. However, despite the grand announcement made in the presence of Prime Minister Modi, there has been no official word on the launch date or availability of Jio AirFiber to the public.
Airtel Xstream AirFiber 5G Device
Airtel’s Xstream AirFiber to use WiFi 6 router that provides users with reliable high-speed broadband-like speeds wirelessly. Airtel claims that its Xstream AirFiber can deliver up to 50% higher speeds compared to routers using WiFi 5 technology.
A key advantage of Airtel Xstream AirFiber is its easy setup process, eliminating the need for technicians to install wiring. Users can set up their WiFi 6 router independently using the Xstream AirFiber app. The WiFi 6 routers need to be purchased separately.
While Reliance Jio remains silent regarding the release of Jio AirFiber, Airtel is actively preparing to launch its Xstream AirFiber 5G device, known as “Airtel Xstream AirFiber 5G.” Although an official announcement is yet to be made, the companion app for the device has been discovered on the Google Play Store by OnlyTech.com. Xstream AirFiber 5G device app to feature an augmented reality (AR) feature that assists users in finding the optimal placement for the device. By inserting an Airtel 5G SIM card and connecting to a power source, users can use the Xstream AirFiber just like any Modem.
According to the app, Airtel to offers a 6-month semi-annual plan for Xstream AirFiber with a speed of 100 Mbps, priced at just Rs 2,994 (approximately Rs 499 per month). While, Airtel’s wired Xstream Fiber service offers only 40 Mbps speed for Rs 499 per month. The estimated cost of the WiFi 6 router itself is Rs. 6,000.
It’s important to note that Airtel has not officially announced the Xstream AirFiber service, and further details may be revealed in the future. As the testing phase progresses and Airtel gears up for a potential launch, consumers eagerly await news from Reliance Jio regarding the availability of Jio AirFiber.
