Opal, founded by ex-Apple and Beats designers, has unveiled its latest product, the Opal Tadpole, boasting ultra-portability and 4K webcam capabilities.

Tadpole sets a new standard for portability, just measures at 1.2 inches squared and weighing 45 grams, the Opal Tadpole claims to be the world's smallest webcam.

Compact Design

The Tadpole is specifically designed to work seamlessly with laptops, featuring a built-in clamp-style clip that attaches to any laptop display without the need for an additional camera mount.

Tadpole's design prioritizes simplicity, featuring a built-in woven nylon cable with USB-C 2.0 for quick plug-and-play functionality.

The webcam is compatible with both Mac and PC, requiring no additional software or third-party setup. An optional carry case enhances its portability.

Building on the success of its predecessor, Opal Tadpole features a 4K, 48MP Sony IMX582 sensor with an f1.8 six-element glass, promising even better image quality than the Opal C1.

Tadpole introduces the first directional VisiMic™ microphone, developed in collaboration with audio experts Soundskrit.

One of its standout features is "Tap to Mute," allowing users to instantly mute or unmute audio during video calls with a single tap, thanks to a built-in capacitive touch sensor on the USB-C plug.

Opal Tadpole is available for $175, offering color options in black or white. Unlike its predecessor, Opal C1, the Tadpole is compatible with both Macs and PCs.
