Samsung has launched a new feature that lets its user’s backup and transfer unlimited data on Samsung Cloud for a short time. The feature, called Temporary Cloud Backup, is aimed at helping users keep their data secure and accessible in different situations, such as phone repair, device switch, or full reset.
Users can select the data they want to backup, such as photos, videos, audio files, documents, and third-party apps. The data will be saved on Samsung Cloud for 30 days from the first save date, and can be restored anytime. Users will get a reminder seven days before the data deletion.
Temporary Cloud Backup will be available this fall for Galaxy S and Z series smartphones in South Korea, and will expand to other countries and devices later. To use it, users will need a Galaxy device with One UI 6, the latest Samsung software that is coming soon. Users will also need a Wi-Fi connection and a Samsung account. The feature can be found in the settings menu under General Management and in the Maintenance Mode tool.
Samsung says that Temporary Cloud Backup has no storage limit, but each file cannot be more than 100GB. The company also gives 15GB of free storage for each user account on Samsung Cloud, but only for native content.
